Helicopter crash: Public invited to send tributes for victims

The Funeral Planning Committee is inviting the public to share messages of condolence and heartfelt tributes to honour the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.

In a statement signed by Presidential Spokesperson and Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the committee encourages individuals, institutions, and organisations to submit their tributes via email to tributes@presidency.gov.gh by 12:00 p.m. GMT on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, for inclusion in the official funeral brochure.

A state funeral will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square in Accra, commencing at 8:00 a.m.

This event will pay tribute to the departed, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

The statement highlights the courage, dedication, and service of the victims, serving as an inspiration for all Ghanaians to strive for a united and prosperous nation.

The victims included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, alongside NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, and former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye.

Also among those lost were three crew members of the Ghana Armed Forces: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
