Heavy security at Accra Girls as parents storm school to pick up wards

There is heavy security presence at the Accra Girls Senior High School as parents stormed the premises to pick up their wards.

The tension comes after six students out of eleven reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.

Some police officers, and Covid-19 task force officials from the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly, have been deployed to the school to calm the situation.

Parents insist on picking up their wards as the police barricaded the entrance to the school, following reports of agitations by the students on the school campus.

“I came for her; I want them to release my daughter for me. She called yesterday that an ambulance came for two people so we have to come for her.”

“They are not allowing us to enter so we are just here and the policemen are also blocking us from entering,” a parent told Starr News.

Sources close to the school indicate that the six who tested positive showed symptoms of the virus and were subsequently isolated at the sickbay of the school Monday, June 29.

They were later taken to the Ga East Municipal Hospital for treatment Saturday, July 4.

As an Administration in authority, we are not showing that we care. How many of the population have access to running water. The kayayei and other porters in our markets are a sure source for the spread. Let’s use the resources ( donations, world bank support , etc ) to provide/make available hand-wash facilities ( running water, face mask, sanitizers and tissue) across public areas free for anybody outside the home. The monies are not meant for political campaign . We know the poli-tricks. Please don’t under rate our intelligence.
