Hearts, Kotoko Independence Cup clash postponed

The Independence Cup clash between archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, scheduled to take place in London, has been postponed.

The organisers, HRH Sports Consult and ProBall International, in consultation with Ghana FA and the two clubs, rescheduled the much-anticipated clash to April 11.

The match, which was to celebrate the 63rd Independence Day of Ghana, was expected to take place at the Barnet Stadium in London on March 7.

However, heavy rains in the United Kingdom capital in the last few days has affected the state of the Barnet pitch. It has caused the postponement of various matches of the National League club, as well as the Hearts-Kotoko clash scheduled for the same venue.

According to the Barnet Chairman, Tony Kleathous, “There is no real problem with the pitch, that a dry spell and a bit work would not quickly resolve. But we have barely had a day without rain since September, and the forecast one in the hundred-year event has now become our reality.”
