Health Ministry announces special life insurance cover for health personnel fighting coronavirus outbreak
A special life insurance policy has been made to cover for the 10,000 health personnel and allied professionals attending to the coronavirus pandemic response.
This was announced by the Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, in a letter addressed to all heads of agencies.
As directed in the letter, “frontline staff involved in the COVID-19 response have been insured under benefits such as Group life cover with an assured sum of GHc350, 000 per life.”
Also, those who would attend to patients with critical illness have been assured a sum of GHc 25, 0000 per life, while those who would treat persons with any form of disability have been pegged at GHc 10,000 per life totalling a premium of GHc10, 309,919.94.
The Allied Professionals include all men and women who have been deployed to respond to COVID-19.
