He Predicts The Next President Of Ghana Will Be An ”Economist”

A confident-looking Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame has wagged the tail of the tiger. Are men going to pitch forward, would this assertion cause a mere scratching of heads or it could stoke an inflammable political scene into a fireball?

Speaking at the 2023 Bar Association Conference in Cape Coast, the government’s chief lawyer dropped the bombshell which was the muse on who the occupant of the highest office of the land could be after President Akufo Addo had left office.

He said it was going to be an economist who descended from a lawyer. That is to say, an economist whose father is/was a lawyer. That certainly raises the stakes in the 2024 general election.

The question then would be; among Ghana’s presidential hopefuls, who fit into the sketch outlined by the Attorney-General?

The leading contenders include former President John Dramani Mahama of the NDC, and the sitting Vice-President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is hotly challenged in the party primaries by Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, and Francis Addai Nimo.

There are wild speculations about the future of Alan Kyeremanten of the ruling NPP who pulled out of the race and kept everybody guessing what his next step might be.
