The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has admonished his staff to prioritise Ghana’s development rather than seeking the interests of their political affiliation.

Mr. Opoku made this remark during a meeting with his staff following his appointment as the new minister for the agriculture sector.

Addressing his staff, Mr. Opoku emphasised that the 2024 elections were over and it was time for all stakeholders to unite to focus on Ghana’s development rather than sabotaging government businesses or efforts.

Mr. Opoku stressed the importance of teamwork and commitment in achieving the ministry’s objectives.

“The politics is over. You may belong to one party or the other, but at the end of the day, we are talking about Ghana and how to govern our country.

“So let’s all hang our political jackets. Mobilise all that we have so we can succeed because this is the only country we have.

“If you are still in the political mood and you think that everything is politics, then you are an obstacle. An obstacle must be cleared to allow free flow of development,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Mr. Opoku has promised to ensure that Ghana’s cocoa production hits a two-decade low, revamp Ghana’s poultry sector, make agriculture attractive to the youth, and institute farming in secondary schools under his administration.
