Gyan, Appiah repair frosty relationship ahead of AFCON
Asamoah Gyan has assured coach Kwesi Appiah of his commitment to the Black Stars following a meeting on Tuesday.
The two met to repair their strained relationship ahead of the team’s departure for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations camping in Abu Dhabi this Saturday.
Gyan who arrived in the country last night after ending the season with Turkish top-flight side Kayserispor also pledged his support for newly appointed captain Andre Ayew and his deputy Kwadwo Asamoah.
The striker posted images from the meeting on Twitter with the caption ” Met Coach today…Great family…Ghana our Beloved Country is first”
Last week, Gyan was stripped of the captaincy and ‘elevated’ as General Captain of the team, a decision which didn’t go down well with him.
He announced his retirement from the national team last week but later rescinded after Ghana president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo intervened.
Asamoah Gyan is Ghana’s leading top scorer with 51 goals.
