A civil advocacy group, The Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH), is set to demonstrate against the police administration on October 15.
The scheduled protest aims to draw attention to various issues, including recent arrests and detentions during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration.
ADAM-GH contends that citizens are only required to notify the police of their intent to demonstrate, with the expectation that the police will provide necessary protection.
However, the group alleges that the police failed to fulfil this obligation during the recent events.
Other critical issues for the demonstration include unresolved cases, such as the eight Ghanaians who lost their lives during the 2020 general elections and concerns about perceived selective justice by the police.
The proposed route for the demonstration starts from Obra Spot close to the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, proceeding through the Sankara Interchange to the Ministry of Interior to submit a petition.
After the Ministry of Interior, the group will head to the police headquarters to present another petition to the Inspector General of Police.
