GRIDCo to shut down Akosombo–Nkawkaw transmission line for 9 days

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced that the 161kV Akosombo–Nkawkaw transmission line will be taken out of service from Sunday, October 5, to Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

The shutdown, the company explained, is to enable the relocation of two transmission towers along the Kumasi–Accra highway.

The exercise has become necessary to pave the way for road expansion works being undertaken by the Ghana Highway Authority.

GRIDCo assured the public that measures have been put in place to maintain an uninterrupted power supply throughout the period.

Engineers will also be on standby to address any unforeseen issues that may arise.

The company apologised for any inconvenience the exercise may cause and reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe and reliable power transmission.
