GRIDCo begins mass testing after confirmed COVID-19 case
The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), will begin mass testing for its employees after a staff of the company tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The company, in a statement, said it received the news of the confirmed case on Monday.
“The employee has since been isolated for treatment by the Ghana Health Service COVID-19 management team, in line with the established protocols,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, GRIDCo has given assurance of a comprehensive contact tracing process, which has begun in order to ensure appropriate measures are taken to protect the lives of other employees likely to have come into contact with the infected employee.
Additionally, as a precautionary measure, a decision has been taken by GRIDCo to undertake mass testing of all staff who have been working at its Tema office since June 15, 2020.
This, the company said, “is to immediately identify, isolate and treat employees who may have contracted the virus.”
The company said it has engaged the COVID-19 Team in Tema to manage the process.
It also assured its customers and stakeholders that it remains committed to their safety while ensuring uninterrupted power transmission services.
