GPL: Kotoko secured a comeback win over Dwarfs to extend lead at top

League leaders, Asante Kotoko have maintained their place at the top of the table after securing a 2-1 win over Ebusua Dwarfs in their matchday fixture 24 on Thursday.
The Porcupine Warriors played host to Dwarfs at the Obuasi’s Len Clay Stadium in a must-win game to keep their league title ambitions alive.
The visitors managed to take an early lead courtesy of their captain Dennis Nkrumah Korsah.

Asante Kotoko gave a quick response to level it up with a goal from captain Emmanuel Gyamfi who scored from a header.

It was a poor goal conceded by the Dwarfs Razak Issah who failed to deal with the ball from entering the net.

The Porcupine Warriors took control of the game afterward but failed to put the ball at the back of the net.

The two teams went into the break with the sides sharing the spoil after 45 minutes.

Kotoko started the second half with a lot of intent at scoring and were gifted the second goal in the 53rd minute of the game.

Gyamfi pounced on another blunder by Dwarfs goalkeeper Issah to make it 2-1, the latter making a mess of an attempt to collect a seemingly harmless delivery into his box.

Kotoko captain Emmanuel Gyamfi was adjudged Man of the match after the game.

The win has taken the Kumasi-based side four points clear at the top of the table ahead of arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, Medeama and Great Olympics, each with 40 points.
