GPL 2024/25: Tenadu’s deflected strike helps Asante Kotoko reclaim top spot
Samuel Tenadu’s deflected strike helped Asante Kotoko defeat Basake Holy Stars and put them at the summit of the Ghana Premier League standings.
The midfielder unleashed a low strike from about 25 yards, which took a deflection and ended up in the back of the net, inside the first quarter of the game.
Holy Stars showed retention of the ball with slick passes, but it was Kotoko who looked threatening and could have put the game out of sight.
Dauda Saaka struck to double the lead but was flagged offside.
Opportunities fell for Kwame Opoku whose powerful strike was just above the crossbar after being teed up by Emmanuel Antwi, who also hit the post.
Kotoko sit at the top of the table with 42 points, while Holy Stars occupy 14th with 24 points.
Up next for Kotoko is a match against Berekum Chelsea, while Holy Stars make a trip to face Medeama.
