It’s an election year and the NPP government is keen not to cede space to the opposition National Democratic Congress which has been touting its record on infrastructural developments while it was in power some three years ago.
And so the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released a video showing infrastructural projects done under president Nana Akufo-Addo.
It was first shown during a town hall meeting Tuesday, which was addressed by vice-president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He said the NPP government has initiated more than 17,000 projects since it was sworn in January 7, 2017. About half of these projects have been completed, he said.
Dr. Bawumia also said the NPP has been more prudent with resources than the NDC. Giving an example, he said government was doing four interchanges with nearly the same cost of one done under Mahama while he was president.
The thrust of his presentation was that the government has much better within its first term than the NDC did within the same period.
The NDC was in power between 2009 to 2012 and won re-election to extend the mandate to 2016.
After that, it lost to the NPP.
While the NDC has called its infrastructural projects “unprecedented”, Bawumia called that of the NPP, “massive”.
The NDC released a book called the Green Book that chronicled their achievements. The NPP has released a 25-minutes video.
President Nana Akufo-Addo goes into a fourth contest against the NDC in the 2020 presidential elections. He has fought the NDC for the presidency in 2008, 2012 and 2016.
He has lost two and one won of the last three contests. Akufo-Addo in 2020 is once again going against his 2012 and 2016 rival, John Mahama of the NDC.
Akufo-Addo lost the 2012 to John Mahama but beat him in 2016 to make Mahama the first one-term president in Ghana.
Mahama has hoping to return the ignominious title to Akufo-Addo.
Mahama has hoping to return the ignominious to AKUFO-ADDO in his dream, more over the party NDC had their two terms in office, which is from 2008-2016, NPP as a party will had their two terms, so papa nu, should stop dreaming.
