Govt releases GH¢170m to settle healthcare providers

The government, through the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has released GH¢170, 775,035.07 to various healthcare providers nationwide to settle outstanding claims. 

The NHIA announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday, May 1, signed by the acting Chief Executive, Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye.

According to the authority, this payment, released on April 30, 2024, predominantly covers claims for January and February 2024 for lower-tier facilities, which represent the largest healthcare providers.

For upper-tier facilities, the payment covers claims up to November 2023.

The authority stated, “This is in fulfilment of the NHIA’s mandate and ensures the continued provision of quality healthcare services to all citizens.” 

The NHIA added that healthcare facilities that wish to confirm their payment can visit the NHIA website at nhis.gov.gh/payments.
