Gov’t installs new equipment for stable oxygen supply at 37 military hospital

The government has installed new equipment at the 37 Military Hospital to restore stable and sufficient oxygen production, ensuring an uninterrupted supply to critical healthcare units.

This follows the failure of the hospital’s oxygen plant, which had posed a serious threat to surgical theatres, Intensive Care Units (ICUs), various wards, and the National Ambulance Service.

During a recent working visit to the hospital, the defence minister was briefed on the dire situation.

In response, President John Mahama swiftly directed the Ministry of Defence to collaborate with the National Security Coordinator to resolve the crisis.

Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has since confirmed that the oxygen plant is now fully operational, significantly enhancing healthcare services at the facility.

“I’m pleased to announce that the issue has been resolved thanks to our proactive measures. There will be no bad news,” Dr. Boamah stated in a Facebook post.

He emphasised that this swift intervention is part of President Mahama’s broader commitment to strengthening Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure and ensuring essential services remain fully functional.

“We remain dedicated to tackling challenges head-on, including those arising from the mismanaged economy,” Dr. Boamah added.

The restoration of the oxygen plant marks a critical step in improving medical care at one of Ghana’s key healthcare institutions, reinforcing the government’s focus on delivering quality health services to citizens.
