Gov’t declares 3 days of national mourning for Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

President John Dramani Mahama has announced three days of national mourning in response to the death of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

This mourning period will commence on Friday, October 24, and conclude on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

A statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President’s Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, on Friday, October 24, indicated that all national flags will be flown at half-mast at public buildings, government facilities, and Ghana’s diplomatic missions around the globe.

This act, as stated, is intended to honour Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings’ legacy and her notable contributions to the nation.

The statement highlighted that the late former First Lady dedicated herself to serving Ghana with “dedication and commitment,” especially in the fields of women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development.

“The Government extends its deepest condolences to the family, her children, and all who mourn this irreplaceable loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the age of 76 at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, was a prominent and influential figure in Ghana’s political and social spheres.
