Government to provide Free WiFi for tertiary and secondary schools – Bawumia
Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has indicated Government will provide free WiFi (Internet) service in all tertiary and secondary schools across the country to aid teaching and learning.
This initiative is in fulfillment of the campaign pledge of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to pursue free WiFi for certain categories of educational institutions.
Speaking at the International Youth Day celebration at Mampong-Akwapim in the Eastern region, the Vice President expressed his excitement for this programme and how committed the government is about education.
“I am happy to inform you that we have moved very quickly on this and by the grace of God, we will start a first rollout of the free WiFi amongst about one university and about three senior high schools or so,” he said.
He added, “We do this not because we want to provide free WiFi, but it is so fundamental; most of the information we need today is on the internet and so we want to make sure that students and the youth have access to that information.”
He urged the youth to have a positive mindset as they strive to the top and remain resolute in their quest to achieve greatness.
“Let us not underestimate our abilities; you can reach for the skies. This is why I keep saying that we should never say this is impossible. It has not yet been made possible and you may be the one to make it possible. Let us not think about impossibilities. Anything is possible by the grace of God and with hard work, “ the Vice President reiterated.
