The government has announced the allocation of GH¢150 million for fixing potholes nationwide.

In a press release, the Roads and Highways Ministry stated that, taking advantage of the dry season, the Department of Urban Roads would commence routine pothole patching activities on major roads.

These roads suffered significant deterioration last year due to heavy rains, as indicated in the statement dated February 15.

The ministry aims to reduce the risk of accidents and to prolong the lifespan of roads through this exercise.

“The amount is part of the first quarter releases from the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Roads and Highways,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Roads and Highways assured Ghanaians it was committed to addressing all nationwide road network challenges.

They “encouraged all to cooperate with the ministry as we strive to improve the national road network”.
