Government has accomplished many successes in the creative space, says Frank Owusu
Frank Kwabena Owusu, Acting Deputy CEO of the Creative Arts Agency, has said that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government has accomplished a number of successes in the creative sector, which are frequently overlooked.
Speaking on Asaase Artsy on Saturday (24 August), Nutakor said, “The five pillars of this Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto are to create jobs, drive economic growth, preserve cultural heritage and our heritage, enhance international connectivity and accessibility, and also enhance our global presence.”
“We, the creative and tourism industries, play a huge part in these five pillars.”
He added, “And I’m very excited that under each and every pillar, something has been enumerated to give us some hope that when he becomes the president, inshallah, which is going to be possible by 2025, we’ll see all these things coming to fruition.”
According to him, one of the Akufo-Addo administration’s shortcomings is that the party has failed to trumpet its own accomplishments in the creative sector.
“We don’t talk of the accomplishments enough. We are going to do it. Because we see, but there are a lot of key things, milestones that’ve been chalked.”
“Do you know that today, 20 music executives have been pitched to the French government and they are enjoying training to be internationally accredited publishers in Ghana. It’s never happened.”
He emphasised that the Ghana Trade Fair site has seen massive improvement because of the current government.
“Today, I can tell you that at the trade fair centre, the round pavilion, the French government has actually pushed money into the round pavilion. Today, it’s been redone and I’m seeing the model.”
“All these things are being done, but we are quiet and we don’t talk about it. And people get up and say, you guys are doing nothing. You guys are doing nothing.”
