An employee of the Goldfields Ghana Foundation has died following a fall from heights incident at the T&A Stadium in Tarkwa.
The contractor, whose identity remains undisclosed, was involved in the ongoing renovation and upgrade of the stadium, a project sponsored by Gold Fields Ghana.
A statement issued by the CEO of Gold Fields, Martin Preece, expressed deep regret over the incident.
“We regret to report a fatal incident after an employee of a Gold Fields Ghana Foundation succumbed to his injuries following a fall from heights incident,” the statement said.
Management extended their heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family, loved ones, and colleagues of the deceased.
In the meantime, Gold Fields has deployed a team to the site to provide support and assistance to those affected by the incident.
All work at the T&A Stadium has since been halted pending the completion of thorough investigations into the matter.
The statement further mentioned that counseling services will be provided to the family and colleagues of the deceased, recognizing the emotional toll such an event can have.
Management urged everyone to keep the family and friends of the deceased employee in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
