‘Golden’ Grace secures Ghana’s first gold at World Armwrestling Championship
Ghanaian policewoman Grace Minta has made history by winning the gold medal in the women’s 80kg category at the 2024 World Armwrestling Championship in Moldova.
In a thrilling finale, Minta, representing the “Africa for Africa” team, defeated competitors from around the world in a nail-biting match that went into overtime.
This marks Ghana’s first-ever World Armwrestling Championship gold medal. Minta, who has dominated African arm-wrestling since 2019, was overcome with emotion as she stood on the podium, her gold medal around her neck, and credited her support team for her success.
