The Goil Company Limited has sued the Agotime-Ziope District over its failure to pay debts owed to the fuel station for over a year.
According to the manager of the Agotime-Ziope District branch of the fuel station, William Attiklu, the Assembly owes the company an amount of GHS43,488.93 accrued from the purchase of fuel on credit since June 2021.
In a writ of summons from the Kpeteo District Court, the plaintiff, William Attiklu, contends that the Assembly, through the District Coordinating Director, approached him to supply fuel to some 17 different vehicles of the Assembly on various occasions to enable them to carry out their daily activities.
The plaintiff said that he supplied fuel to the said vehicles, which include vehicle numbers GN-8828-18, GW-1365-Z, GR-56-21, GT-831-19, GV-837-20, GN-116-Y, GR-5621-16, GV-409-18, GV 521-14, GW-6687-10, GT-6255-11, ER-805-09, GP 3540, GX 2243-15, CR 4168, GT 4941-20 and GT 6997-8 which amounted to GHS73,488.93.
He said the defendant (the District Assembly) paid only GHS30,000.00 out of the total debt accrued.
According to the plaintiff, all efforts to retrieve the money owed to the fuel station proved futile, a situation that led to the closure of the fuel station for 5-months.
Mr. Attiklu believes that the Agotime-Ziope District Assembly will only redeem its indebtedness to the company through court action.
Therefore, he is praying the court for the following relief(s);
i. The recovery of the outstanding debt of Forty-three thousand, four hundred and eighty-eight Ghana Cedis and ninety-three pesewas (GHS43,488.93).
ii. General damages for inconveniences caused to the company and
iii. Punitive cost deemed fit by the court.
