The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued 26 passengers following a multiple-vehicle accident near the Kintampo Waterfalls in the Bono East Region.
Three of the rescued passengers sustained injuries and were quickly taken to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for medical treatment.
According to the GNFS, a distress call was received at about 3:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. A rescue team was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene at approximately 5:24 p.m.
Firefighters found several vehicles involved in a chain collision, including a Mercedes Sprinter that had crashed into parked vehicles and later caught fire.
The accident occurred while efforts were ongoing to tow a Kia Bongo vehicle that had fallen into a pit three days earlier.
The Fire Service said all 26 trapped passengers were safely rescued through the swift actions of its personnel.
GNFS noted that the prompt response helped prevent further injuries or loss of life, adding that investigations into the cause of the accident are still ongoing.
