GNFS contain major warehouse fire on Spintex road

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has effectively managed to control a significant fire that destroyed two warehouses located on Spintex Road in Accra.

This incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 34 Spintex Main Road, directly across from Takyi Plaza.

As reported by the GNFS, the emergency call was received at 8:04 p.m., with the first fire engine from the Kasapreko Fire Station arriving just four minutes later at 8:08 p.m.

Firefighters from various stations, including Nungua, Tema Metro, Trade Fair, Motorway, and the GNFS Headquarters, along with the Ghana Armed Forces Fire Unit and four private water tankers, were dispatched to assist in the response.

The fire was contained by 10:20 p.m., brought under control by 11:30 p.m., and fully extinguished by 3:07 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15.

The coordinated firefighting operation was led by the Director of Operations, DCFO Roberta Aggrey-Ghanson.

Two commercial warehouses filled with sanitary wares, furniture, curtain fabrics, and other items were destroyed. Nevertheless, firefighters managed to safeguard a nearby three-storey showroom and adjacent structures from the flames.

One firefighter incurred injuries during the operation and is presently receiving care at the Police Hospital in Accra.

The GNFS has expressed its gratitude to all assisting agencies for their prompt cooperation and has confirmed that investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
