GIJ grants amnesty to students who couldn’t graduate since 2013
The Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has granted a general amnesty to all students, who have not graduated since 2013 and, therefore, lost their status as students.
The university’s Academic Board at a meeting on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, approved the move.
The students who are to benefit from the amnesty according to GIJ are those “who could not meet the requirements for graduation between 2013 and 2020”.
In a circular signed by the school’s Registrar, the students were granted amnesty to enable them to complete their programmes of study within the next three years.
“Course registration starts from 1st to 18th December 2020, at the Academic Affairs Registry,” the circular read.
“Affected students should make approved payments from January 4, 2021, to February 4, 2021, at any Fidelity bank branch.
“Please note that attendance and participation in-class assignments and quizzes form part of the assessment. Affected students are also to take part in end-of-semester examinations,” the circular concluded.
The university’s rules give students only a year to defer their courses.
