Ghana’s coronavirus cases soar to 2, 074 with 17 deaths

The coronavirus infections in Ghana have risen above 2,000 with one more death.

This represents a jump of 403 cases within two days, as the total on April 20 stood at 1,671. The new infections will be a 24% increase from the initial figure.

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) announced on its COVID-19 website that as at April 30 the number of people who have overcome the disease to recover fully had also increased to 212.

For every one recovery, there are five pending cases being managed at various health facilities designated by the GHS.

The patients who succumbed and died because of the disease have also increased by one, bringing the tally to 17.

Greater Accra alone accounts for 1,795 of the cases with the Savannah, Bono, Ahafo and Bono East recording no infections.

Ghana has conducted over 1000,000 tests and remains second only to South Africa on the African continent in terms of the number of laboratory tests undertaken.
