Ghana’s coronavirus cases hit 53 as confirmed infections almost double in 24hours

Ghana’s coronavirus cases have increased to 53, skyrocketing the number of confirmed cases in a day to almost twice what has been recorded in a whole week.

The health authorities on Tuesday announced the country’s highest number of positive cases in a day,  as it begins the mass testing of persons compulsorily quarantined from Sunday.

At least, 1,030 travellers are under compulsory quarantine as the government seeks to shield the populace from community spread that has turned some of Europe’s finest healthcare systems on their head.

Ghana recorded 27 cases as of Monday night. But by Tuesday morning, the Information Ministry has confirmed 25 more cases have been recorded after quarantined persons tested positive.

Out of the  1,030 persons under quarantine, samples were collected from 611 people for testing.

For the collected samples, 185 tests were completed out of which 25 tested positive.
