Ghana’s coronavirus case count now 1,154, with 120 recoveries
Twenty-one more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus, bringing the number of recovered patients to 120.
Ghana’s coronavirus case count is now 1,154, with nine deaths.
The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Aboagye, announced the figures at the Information Ministry’s press briefing on Wednesday.
Explaining the new development, he said that 112 new cases had been confirmed with 21 more people recovering.

According to him, with the exception of the 115 travellers who tested positive in mandatory quarantine, the new cases were recorded in the category of enhanced contact tracing and general surveillance.
“Under the general surveillance, we have 401 cases that have reported positive. We still have the 115 travellers quarantined and tested positive and enhanced contact tracing in the last three weeks, we have 638 positives, bringing the number to 1,154 cases as of April 22, 2020,” he said.
“Out of this, we have had about 120 of them having recovered, it changed from the 99 in the last reporting,” he added.
Giving a breakdown of the recoveries, he mentioned that “82 of them have come from the Ga-East; University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) has reported 17 recoveries; Ridge hospital has 3 recovered patients; 37 Military hospital has 4; Tema General Hospital has 1; Ashanti Region has 6; Wa has 1, and Tamale has 6.”
Regions that have reported cases remain the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, Northern, Volta, Upper East, Upper West, Central, Western and North East.
