Ghana’s Beach Soccer hopes dim after second loss at AFCON 2024

Ghana’s journey at the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2024 is in jeopardy after suffering a second consecutive defeat in Group A.

The Black Sharks fell 5-2 to Morocco on Monday, leaving their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages hanging by a thread.

Following a narrow 4-3 loss to Egypt in their opening game, the Ghanaian team needed a strong performance against Morocco to stay in contention.

However, despite their efforts, they couldn’t match the North African side’s intensity. This result sees Ghana at the bottom of the group, with no points from two matches.

Morocco, chasing their first-ever finalist position after finishing with bronze in the last two editions, dominated the game, ensuring their place at the top of Group A.

For Ghana, the defeat adds pressure as they head into their final group game with a slim chance of qualification.

Black Sharks will need a resounding victory in their last match and hope other results go their way if they are to keep their dreams of advancing alive.

Their final group stage test will see them face Tanzania, who are also searching for their first win of the tournament.
