Ghana’s AFCON dream not dashed yet -Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo remains optimistic about Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON, despite a stunning 1-0 loss to Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Addo emphasized that the team’s qualification fate remains under their control.

The defeat marked the end of Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten run at the stadium and left them third in Group F with zero points, behind Angola and Sudan who secured 1-0 victories over Ghana and Niger respectively.

Undeterred by the setback, Addo is confident that the Black Stars can still secure a spot in next year’s tournament in Morocco.

“The second half (performance) makes me very confident. The good thing is it’s all still in our own hands. We will play against all the other teams in the group and it’s all in our hands. We don’t depend on nobody to qualify at the moment and this is the good thing. This is a positive thing.”

Ghana’s next match is against Niger on Monday, September 9, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco, scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
