Ghanaians vote for vision, not wealth – Bawumia
New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has stressed that effective political leadership is defined by vision and transformative concepts, rather than personal affluence.
Speaking to party delegates in the Dormaa West constituency on Wednesday, October 22, during his campaign tour in the Bono Region, Dr. Bawumia stated that Ghanaians prefer leaders who can foster development and enhance living standards—not those who showcase their wealth.
Dr. Bawumia, one of five candidates vying to lead the NPP in the 2028 presidential election, asserted that the merit of a candidate’s ideas, rather than their material possessions, should dictate their suitability for leadership.
“Ghanaians do not vote based on personal wealth but on the ideas a candidate offers. No one uses their own money to develop a country. You cannot ask people to look at your properties and vote for you.
“What truly matters are the ideas you present to the electorate—ideas that can transform lives and drive national development. It is not about money; it is about vision and ideas, and that is what I bring,” he stated.
He urged delegates to select a leader who possesses clear and courageous solutions capable of propelling Ghana’s advancement, rather than those who rely on their wealth as their main campaign strategy.
