Ghanaian rapper jailed in the UK for rape and torture of four women

Grime artist Andy Anokye, 32, has been convicted of forcefully having sexual intercourse with women against their will amidst physical assault.

The British man of Ghanaian descent, known as Solo 45 in showbiz, was described as a violent and controlling narcissist by the prosecution during the trial.

He has admitted to terrorising women during “rough sex” but denied the allegations levelled against him, the BBC reported.

However, Judge William Hart, of the Bristol Crown Court, convicted him of 30 charges – 21 rapes, five counts of false imprisonment, two counts of assault by penetration, and two counts of assault with actual bodily harm.

The crimes occurred over two years, and police arrested him in 2017, following a complaint by one victim. Anokye is from Londo, but has a residence in Bristol and usually picked the women from the audience at his shows.

An investigation led to videos of several assaults and three other victims. The jury of seven men and five women reviewed clips found on his phone and laptop.

Anokye interrogated victims about their sexual partners, meted out slaps, insults, abuse and raped them, based on the videos found in his possession.

According to Sky News, Prosecutor, Christopher Quinlan, told the jury: “Not one of the women from whom you have heard said that they consented to what he says is a game – the rape game”.

Furthermore, the prosecutor told the court that Anokye “imprisoned, assaulted, sexually violated and raped four women.”

“Each suffered in similar ways at different times at the defendant’s hands,” the prosecutor stated.

“He filmed using his mobile phone, a great deal of what he did. He is a sadist who derives satisfaction and sexual pleasure from inflicting pain and suffering,” The Sun reported.

Solo 45 became famous when he released the ‘Feed Em To The Lions’ track in 2014.

He has performed alongside British of Ghanaian descent, Stormy, at significant music shows.

Others who have mounted big stages with Solo 45 are Skepta, Wiley and JME.
