Chief Executive (CEO) of Ohenemedia, Abraham Ohene Djan has underscored the importance of Ghanaian music videos in promoting the country and Africa at large, explaining that they are helping to correct the misrepresentations that people have about Ghana and the continent.
Speaking at the official launch of the 10th edition of MTN 4SYTE Music Video Awards, he noted that music videos are key to changing the negative image and narrative that especially the West has about the African continent.
“Music videos are doing something for Africa that many have not noticed. Music videos from Africa are changing the perception that the West has of Africa. From South Africa to the North, South, East and West, the material that is being produced by musicians and directors is changing the look, the idea that the West has about Africa. When you watch our music videos, it is not just about wearing traditional African wear, but it’s about presenting a continent that has been misrepresented for a long time,” he explained to the media.
Mr Ohene Djan is a colossus in the production of music videos in Ghana, and he celebrated by many for his creativity and support for musicians in terms of the shooting of music videos of mainly Ghanaian musicians.
