Ghana star Andre Ayew scores in Le Havre big loss to Olympique Marseille

Ghana captain Andre Ayew registered his first goal of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 season, though it came in a challenging outing as Le Havre AC suffered a 5-1 defeat to Olympique Marseille at the Stade Orange Vélodrome on Sunday evening.

Marseille displayed their dominance from the start, storming into a commanding lead with three first-half goals from Valentin Rongier, Bilal Nabir, and Neal Maupay.

Their relentless attack continued in the second half, as Elye Wahi and Ulisses Garcia extended the lead to an unassailable 5-0.

Le Havre, desperate to salvage some pride, found their lone moment of brilliance in the 85th minute.

Ayew, capitalizing on a precise cross from Antoine Joujou, rose above Marseille’s defenders to deliver a stunning header past the goalkeeper.

The goal not only marked Ayew’s first of the season but also showcased his experience and leadership in a team battling to escape the relegation zone.

This loss keeps Le Havre in the lower end of the Ligue 1 table, leaving them with much to do in the second half of the season.

Ayew, with 10 appearances under his belt this season, will look to inspire his side as they aim to turn their fortunes around in the coming weeks.
