As of December 22, 2025, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 13 new Mpox cases, increasing the nationwide total to 947.
This update is part of the Service’s ongoing public health surveillance aimed at keeping the public informed about the disease.
Mpox is primarily transmitted through close physical contact with an infected individual.
Health authorities emphasise that the ongoing identification of new cases underscores the necessity for heightened public awareness and prompt reporting of symptoms throughout the country.
“Mpox spreads mainly through close contact with someone who has the infection,” the Ghana Health Service stated in a public health update.
The Ghana Health Service advises individuals to uphold good personal hygiene and stay vigilant for symptoms related to the disease.
These symptoms include fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and fatigue.
The Service highlighted that early detection and swift medical intervention are essential to prevent further transmission and ensure effective management of the infection.
“Protect yourself and others by maintaining good hygiene and reporting any symptoms,” the statement emphasised.
Consequently, the Ghana Health Service has urged members of the public experiencing any of the aforementioned symptoms to seek immediate assessment and care at the nearest health facility.
Health officials assert that timely reporting will aid in containing the disease and safeguarding communities as the year draws to a close.
