As renewed hostility between Israel and Palestine over the Gaza Strip intensifies, the government has reiterated its support for Israel in the wake of a deadly attack by Hamas militants on Southern Israel.
Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip reportedly infiltrated southern Israel, resulting in a tragic attack on innocent Israeli civilians.
Israeli authorities have reported more than 600 casualties and 100 kidnappings as a result of these hostilities.
In Gaza, Palestinian officials have confirmed at least 313 casualties due to retaliatory Israeli air strikes.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its unequivocal condemnation of the attacks and called on Hamas leadership to immediately cease hostilities and withdraw its militants from southern Israel.
The statement emphasized Ghana’s support for Israel’s right to exist and defend itself while urging the Israeli government to exercise restraint in its response to Hamas attacks.
“While Ghana affirms its support for Israel’s right to exist and defend itself, it calls on the Israeli government to exercise restraint in its response to Hamas attacks,” the statement said.
Furthermore, the government appealed to both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to return to the negotiation table, underlining the need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
