Ghana has secured the 9th position among Africa’s top 10 safest countries for women to visit, the Global Women Peace and Security Index 2023, has revealed.
The index, assessing 177 nations based on women’s inclusion, justice, and security, reveals Seychelles as the top-ranking African country, with Ghana closely following suit.
The top 10 list also features Cape Verde, South Africa, Mauritius, Tunisia, Rwanda, Botswana, Tanzania, and Sao Tome and Principe, each lauded for their efforts in ensuring safety and security for female travelers.
Meanwhile, the report identifies the Central African Republic as the most unsafe country to visit, with other nations such as DR Congo, South Sudan, Burundi, Eswatini, Somalia, Niger, Sudan, Chad, and Nigeria trailing at the bottom, indicating significant challenges regarding safety and security for women.
