Ghana Premier League to start without any broadcast – FA sets January 2020 to award broadcast rights
Although the bid process for the broadcast rights ended on December 10, 2020, the Ghana Football Association has announced the start of the 2019 /2020 league season this weekend without any broadcast by any media organization, according to a statement by the FA’s Communication Department.
The 2019 /2020 league season is due to commence on Sunday, December 29, 2020, at 3 pm with nine matches across the country.
Seven television organizations have applied for the television broadcast rights, according to the FA Statement which failed to disclose the number of bids from radio stations except to give another three working days for expression of interest (EOI) for the radio broadcast.
It is unclear what may have forced the FA to invite EOIs Seventeen (17) days after the deadline for the submission of bids.
Interested media organizations have until December 31, 2019, to send an EOI for the Radio broadcast rights.

PRESS RELEASE: UPDATE ON MEDIA RIGHTS AND MEDIA ACCREDITATION
The Ghana Football Association wishes to inform its stakeholders that at the end of the deadline for submission of bids for Television Broadcast Rights of the various GFA-organised competitions, the GFA received bids from seven organisations for the television rights.
The GFA has since been evaluating the bids and it will announce a decision next week.
For Radio Commentary Rights, the Association has decided to extend the period for expression of interest by radio stations to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.
Meanwhile, the GFA is processing accreditation requests received from media houses and journalists. The GFA will inform stakeholders in due course for journalists to pick up their accreditation badges.
Until then, media personnel are to use their current GFA Media Identification Cards to access entry into venues of the Premier League.
