Ghana needs Tariq Lamptey, Mohammed Salisu for 2022 World Cup- Augustine Arhinful
Former Ghana international Augustine Arhinful has urged the Ghana FA to convince Mohammed Salisu and Tariq Lamptey to join the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup play-offs next year.
Arhinful stated the Black Stars need all the best players of Ghanaian nationality or eligible to play for the senior national team.
He urged the Ghana FA to use former Black Stars players such as Sammy Kuffour and Anthony Baffour with high profiles to convince the players to join the national team.
“We need to approach Mohammed Salisu to come and play for us, we need him to come. Let’s contact Samuel Kuffuor, Tony Baffour to do this job for us”, he told Happy FM.
“Let them go there and speak with him. In defense, we got a problem. We need our best players out there to come and represent us. He is a solid defender and a good passer of the ball.
Augustine Arhinful recommended Tariq Lamptey of Brighton who is eligible to play for the Black Stars despite representing England at the youth level.
“We need Tariq Lamptey of Brighton. He is also an option for us at the right-back. I would have told him that if he is looking to play for England there isn’t a chance at national level so he should consider Ghana, which will help him in his CV. If it is the father you must get through to him then let’s do it”.
During CK Akonnor’s time he didn’t honor the call up, Coach Milovan Rajevac’s time too he hasn’t turn
“We are looking for results and we get these players and they perform the coach will be happy and Ghanaians will also be happy”, he added.
Mohammed Salisu has received two invites to the Black Stars during CK Akonnor’s tenure as head coach but rejected those call ups stating he wasn’t ready for the national team.
