Ghana music industry now characterized by ‘disposable songs’ – Kofi Kinaata

Takoradi based rapper, Kofi Kinaata, says Ghana’s music industry has been characterized by “disposable songs” in recent time because a significant majority of musicians in the country today lack creativity.

According to him, most musicians are in a hurry to release songs that follow a particular trend in focus and therefore do not take time to put in a lot of creativity.

“They are only focused on releasing songs that will trend for one or two months and not the sustainability of it to last for decades” he said.

Lack of creativity in the industry, he explains, leads to complacency because most musicians are not challenged to bring out their best, to produce songs that tell a story and can last for decades.

The “Susu ka” hitmaker said, “If I were a listener, I would probably have been tired of listening to songs sounding the same.”

According to him, songs produced these days, do not have a storyline to educate, entertain and inform listeners.

“Now it is all about having money to promote your songs and hyping it on social media “he noted
