GHALCA chief Kudjoe Fianoo survives EXCO impeachment
Alhaji Ali Raji, former Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), stepped in to prevent the impeachment of the current Chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo.
Fianoo was facing backlash over his attempts to undermine Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku’s administration.
GHALCA expressed gratitude for Raji’s mediation efforts in a statement released on October 24, 2024, distancing themselves from Fianoo’s recent media comments targeting Okraku.
The controversy surrounds Fianoo’s plot to impeach Okraku, which angered many GHALCA members.
They view his actions as a personal vendetta, criticizing his leadership since 2017, including failures in organizing GHALCA competitions and neglecting club welfare.
Fianoo’s public campaign to oust Okraku, amidst Ghana’s struggles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, has sparked division within GHALCA.
The situation may escalate if the general assembly convenes, potentially leading to a showdown between Fianoo and the Executive Council members.
