GFA to invest $100,000 in Colts Football – Kurt Okraku

Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku, has announced a $100,000 investment into Colts football as part of renewed efforts to revive grassroots football development.

The announcement came during the official unveiling of vehicles for the Regional Football Associations. According to Okraku, the funds will be used to supply footballs and provide support to Colts teams nationwide.

He also revealed that an additional $100,000 will be directed toward clubs in Division Two, Division Three, and the Women’s League.

“We’ve decided to invest $100,000 in Colts football to supply footballs and provide essential support. Another $100,000 will go to the second, third, and women’s leagues,” he said.

The initiative forms part of the GFA’s broader commitment to making football more accessible and inclusive across all levels, in line with the FIFA Forward Program; an initiative aimed at strengthening the global football ecosystem through infrastructure and development funding.

The announcement also comes at a time when the GFA has faced criticism for perceived neglect of grassroots football, particularly the Colts system which has long been a foundation for talent in Ghana.

With this renewed investment, the GFA hopes to strengthen youth development structures and re-establish the Colts system as a reliable pipeline for nurturing future stars.
