GFA grants Premier League clubs full net gate proceeds for 2024-25 season

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that Premier League clubs will now keep all net gate proceeds from matches for the 2024-25 season.

This move is aimed at providing financial support to clubs relying on matchday income to sustain their operations.

This decision follows a meeting held at the start of the season between GFA President Kurt Okraku and representatives from the top-flight clubs, where they discussed ways to improve the league and lessen financial challenges for clubs.

Among various strategies considered, allowing clubs to retain full net gate proceeds emerged as a key solution and received strong support from the clubs.

The clubs have rallied behind this initiative, seeing it as an encouraging step towards not only easing financial pressures but also attracting fans back to the stadiums.

The GFA emphasised its ongoing commitment to promoting the Premier League and urged clubs to take ownership by actively promoting their own matches and securing their gates, as they now stand to directly benefit from the revenue.

In a previous Congress, President Okraku highlighted the GFA’s commitment to bringing more supporters into league competitions.

With this new policy, the GFA hopes to empower clubs to increase fan engagement and build stronger match-day atmospheres across the country.
