GFA elections: Over 100 delegates to elect new President today
The Ghana Football Association is set to elect a new President today, Friday, October 25 to take over from the Normalisation Committee (NC) headed by Dr. Kofi Amoah.
The NC have been steering the affairs of the association for the past 13 months.
The election, which will be held at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Ridge in Accra.
Six candidates are contesting to become the GFA President are; George Afriyie, Fred Pappoe, Nana Yaw Amponsah, Amanda Clinton, George Ankomah Mensah, and Kurt Okraku.
One hundred and twenty delegates from Premier League, Division One League, Women’s League, PFAG, Beach Soccer, RAG, CAG, Schools and Colleges, Juvenile Football, Security Service Football Association, Futsal Association and Regional Football Associations are expected to cast their votes to elect the next President of the Ghana Football Association.
Earlier this week, the Football Association elected Regional Football Association chairpersons to head the activities of the Association.

AMANDA CLINTON
Key statement – “With my leadership, the GFA will be transformed into a multi-billion dollar enterprise that the world will have to come and look at in order to see how we did it.”
Policies – Streamline administrative systems and staff output as well as introducing online and paper systems to track administrative output at the headquarters and at grass roots level
Groom male and female football talent for local and international games
Build new relationships with corporate partners and transparent agreements that bring millions of dollars directly into the FA’s coffers
FRED PAPPOE
Key statement – “I will recover, restore, redeem, repair and revive Ghana football which has lost the love and support of the football public and the corporate world If given the nod.”
Policies – Reviving colts football in Ghana
Set up a compulsory Insurance and pension programmer for players
Make Ghanaian Soccer Centre of Excellence a viable facility
NANA YAW AMPONSAH
Key statement – “Football which started as a recreational activity is now a multi-billion dollar industry and we must have our share of this huge global cake”.
Policies – Introduce one league centre-one ambulance policy
Set minimum of 10% sponsorship commission for agents and 5% for GFA members and staff
Introduce referees quarterly integrity seminar and abolish the payment of officiating fees
GEORGE AFRIYIE
Key statement – “Whatever happened previously is our collective shame, and none can be absolved from the last 13 years. We have the opportunity now to right the wrongs and usher our Association into a glorious future.”
Policies – Create funding templates for clubs to help them pay the minimum wage of $1000
Abolish payment of officiating fees for women’s teams and supply them with basic logistics
Upgrade Ghanaman Soccer School of Excellence with swimming pool, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts.
KURT OKRAKU
Key statement – “For me, transparency can play a huge part in ensuring financial discipline, managing risk, reducing and eliminating opportunities for malfeasance and the perception of corruption of association,”
Policies – Supply 50 footballs and 30 pairs of football boots for all premier league annually
Allow referees officiate from juvenile competitions to serve as assessment for promotion
Decentralize player status committee to have regional versions
GEORGE ANKOMAH MENSAH
Key statement – “When the time comes for change, nobody can stop them and if you do, your conscience will judge you. Times come like Joseph saved the world from famine. I am the Joseph of Ghana football. The revolution is about to happen.”
Policies – Construct a national center of football excellence and construct 12 pictches in 2 years
Introduce a juvenile program aimed at building football from the district
Institute a merit award for exceptional players, where at the end of each season exceptional talent will be rewarded in monetary terms.
