The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed an international friendly game between the Black Stars of Ghana and South American giants Brazil.

According to a statement released by the GFA, the friendly game will take place on 23 September 2022, at a venue which will be communicated later.

However, reports suggest that the match will likely be played in Europe, where most of the players of both teams ply their trade.

According to the GFA, the game “will give Coach Otto Addo the platform to continue the assessment of his players in the build-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals in Doha,” later this year.

Ghana was initially scheduled to play Angola in a double-header in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

However, following the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision to postpone matches, Ghana needed to find another game to prepare ahead for the global showpiece in Qatar.

As part of preparing for the world Mundial, the stars are expected to play in a three-nation tournament in September and also engage Switzerland in another friendly in November before the tournament begins.

Ghana has been drawn in Group H for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and will play Portugal (24 November), South Korea (28 November) and Uruguay (2 December).
