Get ready for mass voter registration – EC rallies Ghanaians
Buoyed by a Supreme Court judgement, the Electoral Commission has urged Ghanaians to fully participate in the mass voter registration exercise.
The Supreme Court in a unanimous judgment dismissed a suit brought by the opposition National Democratic Congress which aimed at compelling the EC to revise its plans.
The NDC wanted the EC to allow voters to use their old voter ID cards as proof of citizenship. The EC has said no and now the Supreme Court has told the commission to go ahead.
In a statement hours after the judgment, the EC reminded Ghanaians that the mass voter registration exercise would begin 30th June 2020 through to August 6th, 2020.
“The commission entreats all its stakeholders to hold themselves in readiness for the Voter Registration Exercise,” part of the statement read.
