GES terminates fresh appointments as government directive bites
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially terminated the appointments of all teaching and non-teaching personnel who are not yet listed on their payroll.
A letter dated February 17, 2025, clarified that the revocation was in line with the directive of the Chief of Staff.
The letter also requested that all regional and district/municipal/metropolitan directors ensure strict compliance with this directive.
It will be recalled that the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, in a letter dated February 10, instructed all heads of government institutions to annul any appointments made under the previous administration after December 7, 2024.
“Consistent with Government pronouncement in relation to near end of tenure appointments and recruitments, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitments made in the Public Services of Ghana after 7th December 2024, are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles,” Mr Debrah wrote.
“Accordingly, all Heads of Government Institutions are hereby requested to take the necessary steps to annul any such appointments or recruitments and submit a comprehensive report on the actions taken to this Office by 17th February 2025”.
“Your cooperation in this matter is highly appreciated,” the letter added.
