The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted three Somé Senior High School (SHS) staff at Agbozume in the Volta Region over an alleged theft of Free SHS food items.

They are Richard Ametorxe, a Bursar, Yorm Dzikumu, Matron and Alex Obuadi the school’s Storekeeper.

In a statement, GES said the interdiction is with immediate effect pending investigations.

“The three officers are to hand over to the Headmaster of the school.

“The investigations committee has been given two weeks to submit its report to Management,” the statement said.

This comes after the three were arrested on Friday and Saturday.

They were arrested after an alumnus of Somé SHS and an Assembly member intercepted the bursar and matron as they departed the school premises on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Upon inspection, a stash of food items was discovered in both a bag and the car’s trunk.

The food items include tin tomatoes, mackerel, cleaning agents, and insecticide spray, all found in the possession of the matron.

The Senior Housemaster, Byron Kwakutsey Kpeli, told journalists that they had been carting away food meant for the students for a long time.

“This has been going on for a long time, and this arrest will bring some change. There are mixed feelings in the school following the arrests. The police have been to the school to conduct investigations, and the storekeeper has been invited for questioning” he added.
