The Communications Director for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa has commended the Akufo-Addo led government for doing so well in boosting Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth.

He said, but for the debt the erstwhile Mahama government left behind, the country’s GDP growth would have soared higher than it is now.

“Ghana’s GDP growth is doing better than China and India, there may be no money in the system now but that means government is paying the debt the NDC left behind”

They left us debt in every sector of the economy, Get Fund, School Feeding, Banking sector and the Energy sector.” he said.

Commenting on the $190 million grant Ghana stands to lose in the Power Distribution Service (PDS) concession agreement from the US government. Asamoa said, the government of Ghana is better of losing that money than to continue with the deal.

The National Democratic Congress, according to him, even though has criticized the PDS concession agreement between the government of Ghana and its foreign partners from the beginning, they are yet to  state their position on the matter.

“The loses government risks to suffer if it continues with the deal is far more than the $190 million the US is threatening to withdraw…. but let me use this opportunity to ask the NDC, what is their position is this whole PDS concession agreement” he quizzed.
