A choreographer and dance artiste is in trouble after allegedly advocating for gay rights in Ghana.
Tahiru Mohammed’s troubles started when he granted an interview to some ‘Hausa’ radio stations in which he inadvertently advocated for gay rights.
This was after a performance at a cultural event at which Tahiru’s dancers had dressed as women, apparently costumed by him.
It was gathered that the cross-dressing and girlish mannerisms of the male dancers, including Tahiru himself, drew the attention of reporters, who afterwards conducted the interview.
When it was pointed out to him that the performance had gay undertones, Tahiru fearlessly stated in the interview that it was an expression of their feelings as artistes, just like gays have the right to express theirs.
These comments went viral after being aired on Hausa radio stations, drawing the attention and ire of anti-gay jihadists.
It was gathered that Tahiru became an instant target and things got to a head on 23rd December when he was accosted by a group and beaten to pulp by a group at Mamobi in Accra, where he lives.
All efforts to reach Tahiru or his family to confirm the story of his ordeal have so far proven futile.
